Digital Paintings

Here I go again…trying new stuff. I’ve recently gotten myself mixed up in digital painting. I purchased a Wacom tablet and I’m starting to think this might be the world for me. Here is a painting I did of my son using only photoshop. This is the 3rd DP I’ve completed. It’s a medium that is wonderful to use because the clean up is non-existent.

I still have a lot to learn in terms of how to properly apply coloring etc. I’ll keep you posted.

Website Design

Today I took some time to layout a website design for a company that I have been working with.

Basically I am doing the design work and my partner will work on the functionality. The goal is that the middle section will be a gallery rotating through different services we provide.

I thought I did a good job creating a professional business style site so I thought I would share.

I also designed the logo that you see for this site.

Invite (07/10/11)

I want to put up more digital work that I’ve done.

Here is an invite I made with Photoshop for an upcoming church event.

I liked the way it came out so I thought I would post it.

Spring time 2011

Okay….so I’ve been doing a lot of photography…a lot!

I’ve done family photos…graduation photos…prom photos…and pet photos.

I think it’s because it’s so easy in this day of digital photography to shoot away and then edit in Photoshop. Also, I have an excellent assistant who has done a lot of photo editing for me.

With photography as an artistic form it is important for me to play angles and lighting. In this particular shoot, with the dogs, I had a situation where the flowers were very “short” at maybe 6 inches in height. So I lowered the camera and shot at an angle that helped the field to look fuller with flowers. The low position also helped the flowers to look larger and more prominent.

I had a great time and now also a great memory.

TRVL SPOT

Medium: Digital (Illustrator)

Here is a logo I designed for a client working on developing his company.

We discussed a few ideas about what he wanted it to look like as well the the functionality of the project.

Lion Logo

Digital (Illustrator)

I was given a task of creating a logo for a website for Christian learning.

I developed a couple of ideas, but this one might be my favorite. The image is of a lion’s head casting a shadow in it’s mane. The shadow is the general profile of a person’s face. The face is to be reading a book…the Bible.

The lion with a cross on it’s forehead represents Jesus who is often referred to as the Lion of Judah. The face reading the bible represents His (Jesus’s) disciples who are symbolically part of the glory of their king.
